Minnie Mouse inspired cookies for my daughter’s 1st birthday

Long gone are the days when cookies where just another sweet treat at your party. Today, cookies are a piece of art. They can be customized to match your event colors and theme, and they add such a personal touch to your party. Lisa and her husband Ira are the geniuses behind The Cookie Jar shop. They create the most beautiful cookies and I’ve had the pleasure of having their cookies at my parties, since I came across their Etsy shop in 2011. Their cookies are not only so beautiful to look at, they also taste delicious! They’ll ship their wonderful cookies from Long Island, NY, to anywhere in Continental US with the utmost care. They can also make arrangements for local deliveries/pick ups.

Please enjoy the beautiful pictures, and don’t forget to visit their Etsy shop and Facebook page!

Show Off Tuesday: A Halloween party for kids

20130122-134521.jpg

Colorful printables from Amanda’s Parties To Go!

Today I’m excited to share the details of our ‘First Halloween parties for kids’, held last October. Growing up in Peru, we didn’t celebrate Halloween as much as we do here in the US, or as they do there now that the American festivity has been widely adopted. However, every February, we dressed up in costumes for the annual ‘Carnival Party’, which was a tradition most families had for the kids in the house. I have very fond memories of those parties, dressed up in fun costumes with my cousins and friends, and I wanted my daughter to have something similar that she could remember and cherish forever. And that’s how the idea for an annual costume party for Halloween was born.

My budget for this party was very limited, as always. I was thrilled to find cute decorations at the dollar store and also at Pier1 imports. The beautiful party printables are from Amanda’s Parties to Go and they were on sale for only 9.00 USD. I’m very blessed to have a great group of mommy friends, who are so much fun and also got great talents of their own. Some brought delicious dishes for the grownups. Some brought wine and beer. I fixed the dessert table for the kids. The kids came dressed up in the cutest costumes. Moms wore fun witch hats and devil horns. My two wonderful friends Jenny and Mili helped out putting the party together. What else do you need for a wonderful party? Thank you so much to all of you who came, and hope to see you again this year.  I love creating memories together.

Enjoy!

Oh Yes, it’s Ladies Night!: Raspberry Mojito recipe

20130117-132815.jpg

Hello and happy Thursday!!

The week is almost over. Are you looking forward to the weekend? I definitely am!
I love Thursdays maybe a bit more than Fridays, for some strange reason that may have to do with reminiscence from my days as a single lady and the famous ‘ladies night’ discounts at clubs and bars. Yes, I used to be a party animal before mommyhood.

So, in the spirit of ‘ladies night’, and for those who love to entertain at home, every Thursday I will be sharing yummy recipes for cocktails and/or appetizers that are quick and easy to make. So get your girlfriends together or simply enjoy by yourself. Anyway, who needs an excuse to have a delicious drink? Enjoy!

Raspberry Mojito

Have you ever tried one? These are sure to please anyone at your party. Even men will love it (although they won’t admit it) It’s too sugary! My husband said once, as he was sucking the sugar at the bottom of the glass, when we used to get it across the street from my old apartment in Astoria. Please let me know how yours turned out.

Ingredients:

· 6-8 fresh mint leaves
· 7-8 raspberries
· 2 teaspoons sugar
· 2 ounces light rum
· juice of 1 lime
· sparkling water or club soda

In a tall glass, muddle the mint and raspberries with the sugar. Fill the glass about ¾ full with ice. Add the rum and lime juice, then top off the glass with the sparkling water. Stir well to combine, and garnish with additional raspberries and mint. Serve immediately.

XOXO,

Nathalie

20130115-154939.jpg

Happy Tuesday!!

It’s time to show off the wonderful work of our friends here at Angelina’s Dream Parties. Today we are sharing two beautiful homemade piñatas by Katya Mendoza. She created these piñatas from scratch for her two boys Alonso and Gonzalo’s birthday parties, who happen to share the same birthday month.

Look at the detail on both piñatas, she didn´t miss a thing! Katya is a teacher, no wonder she is so crafty :-) Great job, Katya and thanks for sharing these pictures with us! You seriously should consider opening your own business.

DIY Monday: Tissue Paper Tassel Garland Tutorial

Picture from the TomKat Studio website

Happy Monday to all!! Today and each Monday, I will be sharing a DIY tutorial that you can incorporate into your party decor.

Tassel garlands are a new favorite of party stylists and you see more and more of them on the internet now. Besides being so versatile, as you can pretty much put them anywhere, in any size and they will look gorgeous, they are also super easy to make and an inexpensive way to add glamour to your decor.

My party hero, Kim from the TomKat Studio, shared this tutorial for a beautiful tissue paper garland that was featured on her pink + gold New Year’s Eve Party for HGTV. What I like the most about this garland is the combination of pastel and metallic colors. I think they would look pretty in any color scheme.

Please click here for the tutorial on the TomKat Studio website.

Enjoy, and happy crafting!!
